WW - Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Submariner, "red letter Submariner," ref 1680, IV70 date code circa 1970, 42mm x 47mm to lug tips, 20mm lug width, original stainless steel screw back Oyster case with bi-directional bezel, later service insert, stainless steel folded link bracelet with deployment clasp and fold over safety, original black MKIV red submariner dial with lume plot indices, 26J cal 1570, s#2794458, triple signed with signed clasp, bracelet ref 9315 with 280 end pieces and misprinted "pateted" diver's extension, inside back ref 1680. Includes original inner and outer box as well as booklet and original punch papers with matching serial number.
CONDITION:
Mvt: GRO, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, no oxide on rotor, no oxide elsewhere, light wear to brass on high edge of movement plate; fine dial shows very light bubbling only noticed when highly scrutinized, light damage to perimeter of dial at 5-6 and 11; excellent tritium hands; lightly polished original head shows very little wear, chamfers are barely visible but could easily be put back on by a good polisher, no dents or dings; refinished bracelet shows very little wear, very light stretch; Rolex triplock service crown shows very little wear, good threads; good crystal; resealed for auction; inner box shows hardly any wear, outer box shows very little wear with light paint loss along the edges.
